Resolved Question: I need help to find a
OK, I really need help, please!
My great grandfather, Frank Shomidie, was born in Boujon, Austria-Hungary on April 6, 1902. He emigrated to America in about 1906. His parents, Frank and Anna Shomidie, also came to America. When they got to America they changed their last name to "Shomidie." Through research I think it may have been originally spelled "Somogy." I am almost positive that they were Hungarian. I can't find the town, "Boujon," anywhere. It is pronounced "Bouyon." I have ordered Frank Sr. and Anna's Naturalization records. It tells the exact ship and exact day that they came over, but still I cannot find it!
This is what it says for Frank:
He was born on October 4, 1860 in Devitcher, Austria. (I have investigated that and I think it may be Devecser, Hungary?) He emigrated from Antwerp, Belgium aboard the "Kroonland" on or about May 22, 1905. His last foreign residence was Bouyan, Austria. He "arrived at the port of New York, in the State of New York, on or about the 3rd day of June, 1905."
This is dated April 18th, 1922.
OK, now for Anna, or Annie:
She was born on August 10, 1861(I have 1863) at "Buyon, Hungary." She "emigrated from Bremen, Germany, on about the (blank) day of June, 1906." She arrived "at the port of New York, NY on or about the 13th day of June, 1906, on the vessel Kaiser Wilhelm II."
This is dated February 4th, 1926
I have literally scoured the passenger lists, but still I cannot find them.
Frank and Anna had 5 kids:
Fannie Shomidie born on November 17, 1888
Katie Shomidie born on November 25, 1890
Esther Shomidie born on April 1, 1896
Mary Shomidie born on May 3, 1898
Frank Shomidie born on April 2, 1902
All of them were born in Boujon, Hungary/Austria.
I would assume the dad, Frank Sr., came over first in 1905. Then Anna and the kids would have come over second in 1906.
Can someone please help me find these passenger records? You really have no idea how long I have been looking for them. It makes me feel like such a failure because this is my own last name, and I can't even find it's orgins. I failed at finding it for my grandpa, exactly one year ago today that he died. Please help me. If more info is needed I would be glad to post it. Thank you to anyone who tries to help me. Sorry, I meant to put that I thought that the original last name was spelled:
not "Somogy" as I had it.
Also, like I said, I have tried everywhere, ellisisland.org, ancestry.com. I have went to the exact day the ship came, and looked through the entire ship manifest, but still I cannot find it, please help! They all immigrated to Springfield, IL. Although, it is possible that they may have went to Pennsylvania first. By 1910 they were living in Springfield, and that is where they stayed.

Resolved Question: Questions about travel in
I have to write a report for travel for a specific country, and I have chosen is Hungary. I have gotten many answers from my mother (who is from there), but there are a few questions that I am having trouble finding the answers to.
Any help will be appreciated =)
• Do they have capital punishment? For what offences?
• Are there Political parties? Name the major ones.
• Is there an official state religion? What about tolerance of religious minorities?
• Is there a Canadian embassy or consulate there? What is the address & phone no?
• Identify the procedures at the border (such as customs) when entering and leaving this country. Do they keep your passport?
• What items are you forbidden to take into your destination country?
• How much money can you (or must you) bring in? Where can you exchange Canadian dollars for theirs?
• Do they accept US dollars?
• What items are you forbidden to bring back into Canada?
• What is the maximum value of goods you can bring back into Canada?
