Resolved Question: Gambia - Bumster or
I have just returned from a great 2 weeks in the Gambia. Stayed in Badala Park hotel in Kotu. Hotel was great and met a gardener who works in the hotel (Amadou - or Arms) and gets paid £10 a month from the hotel. I want to know if he is a bumster working in the hotel or a genuine friend. This is what he did for us: Took us on many trips, saving us a fortune against the same trips with Thomas Cook - went to James Island. Would have cost £120 with Thomas Cook, we paid around £50 - including taxis, ferry and lunch. Visited his village, had lunch with his mum and sponsored his sister to go to school in Gunjul (went to the school and paid the headmaster so we know the money was paid to the school - cost £5 for the year for preschool). Got his mum a large bag of rice for £20 and gave them old clothes. He did our washing for us by hand, cooked us food on the beach on a charcoal BBQ - we gave him D200 (£1.30) a day for taking us out, or D100 for a half day out, got his food and drinks while out and gave hime £30 at the end of the two weeks. He has our phone number and said that when we go back in March, we can stay with his mum at his house for a few nights and told us that we are part of his family and will always be together.
