  Resolved Question: What nationality are
People from Congo; whether democratic rebublic or the other one, are Congolese. Sudanese are now either North Sudanese or South Sudanese. And I cringed when I heard a 2010 World Cup commentator describe the players in the Ivory Coast team as 'Ivorians' But what do we call people from Burkina Faso? Burkinese? Burkina Fasians? And do Nigerians come from Nigeria and Niger?

Resolved Question: Malaria risk in Burkina
I am going to Burkina Faso for 4 weeks in September. Would like to know what the real malaria risk is from someone who has actually been - I have heard of people being told by travel doctors that they must buy malaria medication and then arrive in their destination country only to find the risk is either minimal or zero in the region or even in the country as whole. Also, malaria pills are quite expensive at $5-8 each, and I don't have much money to spare. Is it possible to find tablets in Burkina Faso from a reputable source? And since the pills are not 100% effective and can have nasty side effects (so I have heard), is it even worth it to be taking them, or can I just take all the other necessary precautions (ie. nets, long sleeves at night, bug spray, etc.). Also, how easy is it to get to medical care in Burkina if I have symptoms of malaria? Finally, I have heard of a herb called Artemisia annua (Sweet Wormwood) that is quite effective for prevention and treatment. Can anyone confirm that, and if it is true, where can I get it? So to recap: 1. Real risk on the ground 2. Cost and availability of pills in Burkina 3. Pills versus being cautious 4. Proximity of care in case of infection 5. Artemisia - does it work and where to get it I realize malaria can be deadly, but so can car and plane travel. Most of the time people are completely cured with prompt treatment, even though it is very unpleasant to get infected. I care for my health, but don't want to take precautions that are just silly and expensive compared to the risk, and may even make me sick anyway. Thank you!
