Resolved Question: Danish immigrant to
My grandmother's maternal grandfather immigrated to Ireland some time in the mid 1800s. It wasn't due to political or ethnic reasons. Farmland was cheaper in Ireland than Denmark. I know he immigrated with his brother. (I don't know if they came together or seperately.)
The main problem is that I don't know his original surname. My great grandmother (who immigrated to America) has documents that list her name as "Nora Crean," "Nora Crine" and "Nora Crehan," but I know my great-great grandfather changed his surname in Ireland from it's original Danish form.
My great grandmother first went to Philadelphia before settling outside of Boston. Every record I have found doesn't specify where she was born other than saying "Ireland."
Any ideas on how to research back farther?

Open Question: What to name my first
My wife and I are having a baby (my egg, she's carrying), and we are really stuck on what to call her. We have plans to move to Denmark within the next few years and don't know whether to go with a name that is used in both Denmark and Scotland, or to go with a Scottish first name, and a Danish middle name, which she would be known as in Denmark.
Our names that are used in both Scotland and Denmark are:
Sonia (Sonja in Denmark)
The other ones are:
What do you think of these names? Do you have any suggestions? Just too add that the first three names would be used WITHOUT a middle name. The other would be used together. Our surname is Macfarsmith by the way (a mixture of hers and mine).

Resolved Question: What to call my third
I am pregnant with my third child, a little girl, and my husband and I have no idea what to call her, though we do have a few ideas which are:
My husband is Danish and I am Scottish and we live in Germany (we're over visiting family at the moment) and it's really important to us to get a name that it is possible to use in all three countries. I already have a daughter named Lena from a previous marriage and my husband and I have a son together called Karsten, so I'd like for all the names to go together quite well also.
Could you tell me what you think of these names, and if you have any other suggestions?

Resolved Question: Icelanders: How is living
I just want to know how it feels being an Icelander (or a foreigner in the country). Please, answer in detail. I really like Iceland and would love to live there one day! Oh, by the way, I also want to know what life is like in Reykjavik.
Thanks in advance! I just realized that I myself hadn't been very detailed in what I was asking... :P
So, what I want to know is: What are the most popular TV channels in Iceland? I'm aware that there's a channel called RÚV but I'd like to know more. What sort of series (Icelandic or foreign) are there on TV? How do Icelanders cope with the cold weather? Is Reykjavik a big city? What's the nightlife there? Do Icelanders receive high sallaries? Are men and women treated as equals? What does a typical Icelandic diet include? At what time of the day does school start and when does it end? Do Icelandic children learn foreign languages? If so, which ones? Is Iceland a country which uses the internet or other telecommunications a lot? Is there a metro in Reykjavik?
That's all I can think of. Thanks again!
